[A young man stands in his bedroom. It just so happens that today, the 8th of December, is NOT this young man's birthday, and he already has a name! So re-using this tired old joke isn't really going to work, now is it.

Okay, so a young man is standing in his bedroom. Except that it's not his bedroom, even though there are pictures of him all over the place! John Egbert is pretty sure that he would remember what his bedroom looked like, and last time he checked it had been destroyed and was being overrun by imps. John's not sure of many things right now, but he's definitely sure that he don't see no imps in this here bedroom.]

When Jade brought us through that wall, I didn't think this is where we'd end up...

[Time to explore! John heads outside and surveys the neighborhood, and for a while he thinks he may have somehow ended up back in his own neighborhood. This definitely isn't his house, though, and none of these neighbors look very familiar! In fact, the only thing in the front yard that really reminds him of home is the mailbox.

>John: leave a surprise for the mailman.

What? No, that's stupid. He's not going to do that.

>John: poop in the mailbox.

Absolutely not. Never gonna happen.

>John, you take a dump in that mailbox this instant.]

N.... No! I won't!

[Passersby are free to find John staring intensely at his front yard's mailbox, as if wrapped in some deep moral quandry.]

No I am not expecting anything what mailbox. [John shakes his head violently before smiling at Usagi.] Er, sorry about that. I'm John.

The mailbox right behind you! You were looking at it as if you were looking for a package or something. [She giggles.]

Hi, John! I'm Usagi.

[yes she is a bunny no she does not go in a box.]

Nice to meet you! So, er... You have any idea where I am right now? I'm kinda lost.

This town's called Mayfield. It...basically really sucks. We're put in fake families and forced to live like we would back in the 1950s.

And every once in a while they do horrible things like send zombies through town or make it look like a bomb went off then send horrible creatures after us.

...if you need help, though, call for Sailor Moon. She'll come help. I know because she's a good friend of mine.

This doesn't sound like Sburb... Are we even still in Sburb? Man, this shit is so confusing, I don't even...

Anyway, thanks for the offer, but I should be able to take care of myself. I've got a bunch of sweetass hammers and I can do the windy thing, that's usually enough to take care of whatever comes my way!

...what's Sburb?

Mm. Okay! It sounds like you'll be just fine!

Sburb is... hmm. Man, even I don't totally know. It's a video game, I guess, except it's real, and it destroys the world and creates universes, and this probably all sounds insane.

...video games can do that? That's -- that's AWESOME!

It kind of is, but kind of isn't! For starters, it blew up the world, so, you know, there's that.

...blew up the world?! But it's a game...games shouldn't...what?

Yeah, tell me about it. We wouldn't have played it if we knew starting it would destroy the world, but something tells me Sburb would have found a way without us.

I think I'll just stick to what's in the arcade and never buy that one. It's not worth destroying the universe for a game. No matter how awesome it is.

...what's the windy thing you mentioned?

Oh man, the windy thing is so awesome. Check this out:

[John EXTENDS HIS HANDS HEROICALLY, AND THE WIND OBEYS HIS CALL

except not.]
What the hell, why can't I do the windy thing!
